drainage systems
At Knollands we sell three main types of drainage piping. Agricultral drainage coil for the control of field water tables, which is normally an operation performed in spring or summer when the ground is dry. For the main carrier drains and the second style of piping, we supply twin walled CorriPipe™ in 6m rigid lengths from 100mm diameter through to 900mm. CorriPipe™ is also used in many civil engeneering projects such as road construction, storm drainage, culverts and also for electric ducting. The third style of pipe is the orange Hunter sewer drain which provides a comprehensive, integrated solution to the needs around the house from foul drainage, septic tank venting systems and storm water run off. The Hunter range of products has a full range of fittings to suit, this includes bottle gullies, manholes, bends, junctions, traps, adaptors, channels, guttering and down pipes.
rain harvesting
On average a person uses 150 litres of valuable drinking water each day. However, for approximately 50% of uses, drinking-water quality is not imperative, e.g. for flushing the toilet, operating the washing machine, irrigating gardens and parks, operating a car wash, etc. Especially for these purposes, the use of rainwater enables savings of approximately 75 litres per person and per day. Advantages of rain water harvesting are that no one will bill you for it, it is natural water, prevents from calcification of washing machines and it is the optimum medium for plants to absorb. Rainwater is harvested through a guttering system and channelled through a preliminary filter into the rainwater reservoir. This is normally installed underground in a tank. From there, the water is carried with the aid of a pump via pipes to the user stations. Should a drought occur, drinking water can be supplied to the mains via an automatic replenishment system.
bunded oil / fuel filling stations
Knollands supplies a full range of bunded and single skin tanks for commercial and domestic uses. To meet with the legislation for commercial usage any tank above the storage capacity of 200 litres are bunded meaning they are a tank within a tank with the outer tank holding 110% of the inner tank. These can be used to store oils, diesel fuel and certain other chemical products. All bunded tanks are manufactured from high grade polyethylene and are supplied with moulded in fittings. All bunded tanks are available as either top fill and bottom empty, the B1 type, or the top fill and top empty named the B2 type. The single skin tank range is usually for water storage but in some domestic situations can be used where conditions allow.
